Postgraduate violoncello studies with Sol Gabetta

Internationally acclaimed violoncellist Sol Gabetta will teach at the Musik-Akademie Basel starting in the academic year 2019/20.

Application
The following should be submitted via WeTransfer to

_ a video recording
_ the program for the audition
_ a CV
_ a photo
_ a letter of recommendation
_ a letter of motivation

The video recording (minimum 20 minutes) should document the following musical areas:

_ Two movements of different character from a Suite for violoncello solo by J. S. Bach
_ A piece of virtuoso character for violoncello solo or with piano
_ A movement from a sonata by L. Boccherini, L. v. Beethoven or from the Arpeggione Sonata by F. Schubert

Following the application preselection by the jury, invitations for the entrance examination will be sent out by end April 2019 at the latest.

Entrance examination
The exam at the Musik-Akademie Basel is scheduled for
Tuesday, June 4 / Wednesday, June 5, 2019

Program
The program should contain complete works:

_ A suite for violoncello solo by J. S. Bach
_ A concerto for violoncello by L. Boccherini
_ A solo work from the 20th or 21st century (e.g., works by Z. Kodaly, G. Crumb, G. Ligeti, M. Reger or B. Britten)
_ A work of virtuoso character for violoncello solo or with piano

Conversation
Self-reflection concerning the audition and questions from the jury.
