Chamber Music and Lied

Chamber music is an essential component of the core curricula of our undergraduate and graduate degree programmes. It is also the focus of the Graduate Course for String Quartets (Walter Levin Chair), a continuing education programme for seasoned ensemble musicians.

In the course of any academic year, students, regardless of their major subject, have the opportunity to engage with chamber music works from various eras and perform in over 200 chamber music ensembles. The importance of the chamber music repertoire is reflected in the fact that it is an integral component of many degree examinations. For those seeking a deeper understanding of the discipline, we offer Specialised Master's in Chamber Music and the Graduate Course for String Quartets (Walter Levin Chair). The Lied repertoire features in all our degree programmes, from Bachelor level right through to a Specialised Master's in Lied Performance.
