sinusoidal run rhythm

Dienstag, 04.11. | 19:00 | 6-301 Vortragssaal

Sinusoidal run rhythm is created by the addition of in-phase cosine functions in integer ratios. Their maxima are temporally and dynamically shifted in relation to corresponding notated rhythms and exhibit a physicality that is not present in discretely controlled rhythms. sinusoidal run rhythm models microtemporal grids with dynamic weightings that are singular for each underlying combination of partials, which are all very groovy.  sinusoidal run rhythm therefore defines rhythm as a wave and thus clearly sets itself apart from the conventional rhythm theory of a European musical tradition.

sinusoidal run rhythm is explicitly a supplement, specification and extension of existing rhythm models and rhythm theories and can integrate them.
The theory invites us to dissolve the boundaries between performance and performance, score and interpretation, man and machine and to search for applications in the genesis of music, music analysis, psychoacoustics or philosophy.

A book and code were published by Wolke Verlag in 2023.
